Surprising increase in minimum wage in the UK; new job opportunities too
According to a global news agency, the British government has increased the minimum wage in the country based on the age of employees.
Under which, the wages of workers aged 16 and 17 have been increased by 6 percent, while the wages of employees aged 18 to 20 have been increased by 8.5 percent to 10.85 pounds per hour.
Similarly, the minimum wage for workers aged 21 and above will be increased by 4.1 percent to 12.71 pounds per hour.
The wages of young employees undergoing training or apprenticeships have also been set at 8 pounds per hour.
However, this increase in the minimum wage will be applicable from April 2026.
The government says that this increase in wages is necessary for millions of workers who are forced to live on low incomes despite rising inflation and high housing costs.
However, employers have reacted cautiously to the government’s decision to increase the minimum wage.
They warned that the increase in wages will increase business costs, which could lead to higher prices in some sectors or fewer jobs for young people.
It should be remembered that this increase in the minimum wage was already made once before in 2025, but this new amendment could lead to another increase in salaries.
In addition, the British government has also announced the creation of new job opportunities in the country, which can benefit both domestic and foreign people.
It should be noted that since Corona in the UK, the rising rents of houses have doubled the problems of low-income families.
