Trump may target Iranian Supreme Leader in a few days, former US ambassador makes dangerous claim
Former US ambassador to Israel Don Shapiro has claimed that US President Donald Trump may try to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the next few weeks.
According to foreign media, Don Shapiro, in an interview with an Israeli news agency, said that President Trump intends to target the current leadership of Iran and Ayatollah Khamenei may be on this list.
Don Shapiro served as US ambassador to Israel during the tenure of former US President Barack Obama.
His statement came at a time when Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has blamed the US for the violence, protests and deaths in Iran.
Referring to Ayatollah Khamenei's age and health, the former US ambassador said that he is currently 86 years old and Iran needs a new leadership.
Don Shapiro, in a statement on the social networking site X (formerly Twitter), added that the US could soon deploy a large fleet to the Middle East, which would help in defensive preparations in the event of a possible attack on Iran and any retaliation.
He also said that the US could carry out further strikes against Iranian forces. However, there was no official response from the US government in this regard.
