Epstein sex scandal; Slovakia's national security adviser resigns
Slovak national security adviser Miroslav Lajčák has resigned over the infamous Epstein sex scandal, but has denied any wrongdoing.
According to a report by foreign news agency Reuters, the national security adviser to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has resigned from his post after new files related to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal emerged and the aforementioned emails discussed girls.
Slovakia's national security adviser Miroslav Lajčák rejected any wrongdoing in a statement and condemned Epstein's crimes.
Regarding the emails released in the new Epstein scandal files, he said that the exchange of sentences was general and informal and had no practical relevance, but he would resign so that the situation would not be used to attack the prime minister.
He said that I am not doing this because of any criminal or immoral actions of mine, but rather because I do not want Prime Minister Fico to pay the political price for something that has nothing to do with his decisions.
The Slovak Prime Minister announced on social media that he had accepted the resignation of National Security Advisor Miroslav Lajcak, saying that he has a very rich experience in diplomacy and foreign policy.
It should be noted that the US Department of Justice on Friday released millions of materials related to the Epstein files, including an exchange of emails in October 2018, when Miroslav Lajcak was Slovakia's foreign minister.
Miroslav Lajčák is a prominent Slovak politician, diplomat, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, serving twice from 2009 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2020. He is also a former President of the United Nations General Assembly, serving as its President from September 2017 to September 2018.
