A passenger plane crashes in Indonesia, killing all 11 people on board.
According to the international news agency, the small ATR 42-500 aircraft used for domestic flights took off from Indonesia Air Transport.
The plane had departed from the city of Yogyakarta for South Sulawesi and shortly after lost contact with the control room.
Contact with the plane was lost when it was near a mountainous area called Liang in Marus district and the weather was also not good.
According to initial reports, the plane was not following air traffic control instructions during the approach (near landing) and lost contact at that time.
Search and rescue teams immediately launched a search operation with helicopters, drones and ground forces.
During which debris and small fire signs were also seen in some places. Due to the mountainous and difficult route, rescue operations were facing difficulties.
There were 8 crew members and 3 passengers on board the plane. They died on the spot in the tragic accident.
The plane was part of the Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) fleet, which was also being used for maritime surveillance missions.
Explosion-like sounds were also heard near the accident, but the final cause of the accident is still unknown.
It should be noted that Indonesia is a state consisting of large islands where air travel is the most important for mobility.
