Ishaq Dar contacts Saudi and Emirati foreign ministers and welcomes decision to hold comprehensive talks on Yemen
Pakistan has welcomed the decision of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council to hold comprehensive talks in Saudi Arabia to resolve the conflict and stressed the need to move forward in a peaceful environment, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar telephoned the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and appreciated their initiative.
A statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that Pakistan has welcomed the comprehensive talks in Riyadh by the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and once again urged all Yemeni parties to make efforts to move forward on the basis of a negotiated political solution on agreed principles.
The statement said that Pakistan reiterates its full support for Yemen’s unity and regional security.
The Foreign Office said that under the principles of unity and brotherhood, Pakistan expects that regional efforts will contribute to restoring lasting peace and stability in Yemen.
On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, after arriving in Beijing, had a telephonic conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and the UAE Foreign Minister, and the two leaders discussed the latest situation in the region in detail.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister welcomed the statement of the Saudi Foreign Ministry on Yemen and appreciated the efforts of all parties to resolve the situation in the region amicably.
Ishaq Dar had a telephonic conversation with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan from Beijing and the two leaders discussed the current regional situation.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive progress and improvement trend in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister appreciated the fact that concrete and positive results are being achieved in the ground realities through dialogue and diplomacy.
