Donald Trump Iran Protester Executions Decision Forces US to Delay Military Strike
Donald Trump Iran Protester Executions: US Delays Attack on Iran
According to the World News Agency, in a conversation with reporters outside the White House, President Trump was asked whether Arab countries and Israeli authorities had stopped him from attacking Iran immediately?
To which President Trump openly said that he had not taken the decision to attack yet, not under pressure or suggestion from anyone, but personally, and there is an important reason for this.
President Trump said that no one convinced me, I convinced myself. Iran had announced yesterday that it would execute more than 800 arrested protesters, but none were executed.
He added that when Iran canceled these executions, I also reviewed my decision to attack.
This statement is considered the clearest indication yet from President Trump that he has decided to stop military action in the context of the state crackdown on protesters in Iran.
Earlier this month, President Trump warned that the United States would take military action if Iran killed protesters.
On Wednesday, President Trump also claimed that he had been informed by Iranian officials that the killing of protesters had stopped.
In addition, the White House also claimed that 800 death sentences expected on Wednesday had been canceled.
However, there is ambiguity in this regard because White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt had given the date of the executions as Wednesday, while President Trump later mentioned Thursday.
It should be noted that Iran has never officially confirmed the plan to execute 800 protesters.
Nevertheless, President Trump thanked the Iranian leadership in a message on his social media platform Truth Social, writing that I respect the fact that the Iranian leadership canceled more than 800 scheduled executions. Thank you for this decision
It should be noted that according to the Norway-based organization Iran Human Rights, 3,428 protesters have been confirmed dead so far.
